contributors

How does one become a contributor to the online publication entitled "Gadzooks!"???

Well, first you start by wanting to. Then, after you have worked up a sufficient enough desire, use that desire to propel you to the nearest e-mail program. Write to us about your writing desire, and hopefully if the act hasn't quenched your thirst to write, we can work something out.

Story pitches are welcomed, an unsolicited completed article is not. We're pretty hot to respond to story pitches though, and you'll soon be on your way to writing your first article.

Direct your art-enthusiasm fevered e-mails to the address editor-at-gogadzooks.com

guidelines:

Writing guidelines for Gadzooks! are pretty flexible. What we're looking for specifically is Arts or Community oriented, magazine-style stories, over 500 words but less than 2500. It should relate in some way to the No-Fly-Zone (whatthe??) whether it's by someone with a NFZ perspective, about something happening in the NFZ, or about someone who's from NFZ, etc.

If you're ever in doubt, just float it by the editor. These are rough guidelines, not hard cast in stone rules that are inflexible and uncooperative. We're easy. And often cheap.

topics:

Want to write but you can't think of something? For a list of topics to spur your muse, go here. Or contact Rod at
416-532-1783 or at the editor email address above & he'll
give you a few ideas. Or he will consult the RANDOM STORY IDEA GENERATOR (see below).

random story idea generator:

A chaos jar with random words written on pieces of paper inside it. The only rule is that if you go for the random story idea generator, you must write, or illustrate, or photograph, or write a poem about (or do something equally productive) with the words. No sending stuff back or disappearing. You're welcome to drop by the studio & draw your own idea, or phone/email Rod & he will give you one. All hail Eris!

deadlines:

Gadzooks! is supposed to be published by Thursday morning. We need a day or two to edit and layout your story. We'd really really really like it if all content can be submitted by Tuesday midday at the absolute latest if you want it in this week's episode. If you can get it in any earlier (say.... Monday?) we'd kiss you right on the sweaty forehead and call you darlin'.

feedback:

Or, if you are a negative person, "complaints". We love Gadzooks! and pour our little hearts & souls into it, but understand that sometimes we work in a vacuum. A big, silent vacuum. So, we want and crave your comments, whether good or bad. Fire them off to editor at gogadzooks.com and we'll read them right away.
