This is Guy Leblanc
A Q&A with Gadzooks!
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Pickering just north of the 401, and yes it is a suburbia hell there!
How long have you been in Toronto ?
21 years, nearly half my life, it is, without a doubt, my home.
What keeps you busy?
Filling out grants in order to afford making the art that helps me afford to pay my bills
Dream job? Why?
I'm living it! I am designing and creating modern furniture.
If I say jump?
I say why? Or possibly make me.
What do you give back to the No Fly Zone?
Hopefully some very nice pieces of furniture that will last eons and look good the whole time.
What can we do to make Toronto a "world class" city?
We are doing a pretty good job, but we could always invite and host more delegates from other countries to come and discuss globalization and its impact on the way we all interact.
Are you an artist?
More architect/industrial engineer than artist.
Hands or feet?
Of course hands, they are my precious commodity.
Worst public moment?
Opening night of my first design show and the delivery truck showed up 5 minutes before opening. It was a mad rush to get it all set up and wasn't even remotely as we had originally planned the layout.
Future plans?
Do more work in Bruce Mau's home.
Mon Chi Chi, My Little Pony, Barbie? discuss.
I'm at a loss.
Why chose this neighbourhood to live?
Initially I lived here because it was cheap, I lived and worked in the old Robert Watson warehouse, but now I just know so many people and love the area.
