Canadian Music Week 2008
By the Gadzooks Staff
While many people may not be interested in running around downtown Toronto this weekend to hear the almost 500 bands performing in this year’s Canadian Music Week (it’s only 3-4 days, not really a week) - the Gadzookerie would like to give their 2 cents on what might be worth taking notice of for those who might like to take in some music this weekend.
Thursday, March 6
Catch some hot Maritime chick music at the Rivoli tonight with New Brunswick’s Julie Doiron (9PM) followed by office favourite PEI/NS Jenn Grant (10PM)
Join members of Toronto’s Rock Elite as they support Montreal band Chocolat at El Mocambo (10PM) and Jason Collett at Lee’s Palace (11PM)
Later, Finnish fans will be watching Moses Hazy at the Hideout (12AM)
Friday, March 7
Toronto rockers will want to see Magneta Lane at the Horseshoe Tavern (8:30PM)
Greg Hobbs will be on at The Cadillac (9PM) and you might want to stick around to hear PEI’s Brooke Millar.
Or if you are around Dundas and Ossington, the always fun Dakota Tavern will feature Brighton, England’s My Little Problem (9PM)
And the uniquely named Volcanoless In Canada from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan will be at the Cameron House (12AM)
Saturday, March 8
If you aren’t going to see The Breeders at the Phoenix at 7:30, you might want to check out The Boys In A Band from none other than the Faroe Islands at the Annex Wreckroom (8PM)
If you missed Jenn Grant at the Rivoli on Thursday night, you can see her tonight (10PM)
Whatever Happened To Corduroy will be at the Smiling Buddha (11PM)
Yesterday’s Ring will be at the Bovine (12AM) or if you want to go out on a truly randy note, White Cowbell Oklahoma will be at the Horseshoe Tavern (12:10AM) |
