ASSEMBLY REQUIRED PRESENTS A panel discussion that explores the idea of Canadian design being more than romanticized notions of the northern landscape, and to examine Canadian material culture and what is being done at home and abroad. With speakers Rachel Gotlieb, Shaun Moore, Julie Nicholson, and Patty Johnson. Moderated by Todd Falkowsky. Curated by Andrea Chin.
Our favourite quirky reading series presents the launch of essays by some of Toronto’s famous/infamous scribes pontificating on where the city is headed. Over-exposed CBC diva, Jian Ghomeshi, will host a “town hall meeting” with some of the contributors.
As if the title isn’t already self-explanatory - IN OUR CUPS™ will be hosting a “gentle getting-reacquainted-with-hard-liquor” evening featuring soju-pear-ginger concoctions, cilantro drinks, hot chile margaritas and a new drink called the Pink Broad, as well as their fancy-pants cordials and syrups. The full title of the painting which inspired our magazine title is Homo sapiens, Lepidium sativum and Calliphora vomitoria - a wise man, some cress, and a bluebottle. It is the work of British artist Stuart Pearson Wright.
