The Eighth Annual Casa Canadiense Folkfest

Rancho Relaxo is the setting for a full day of amazing music in support of Nicaraguan community development.

Casa Canadiense is hosting its Eighth Annual Folkfest at Rancho Relaxo on Sunday starting at 1PM and straight through until 11 featuring two floors of amazing music.

What exactly is Casa Canadiense? The organization's website says, "Canada House" is a community-based popular education centre located in a working-class neighborhood of Managua, Nicaragua. It was founded in 1992 by a group of Canadians and continues to function through a volunteer organization based in Toronto. They have worked over the last 15 years to encourage solidarity between the two countries and to collaborate on community development programs.
The all-day Folkfest will feature some of the finest artists in the local music scene - all of whom are donating their time and talent to support the organization. The event on Sunday will raise funds for preschool lunch programs in Nicaragua.

The full line-up includes: John Wort Hannam, Julian Fauth, Donne Roberts, Laura Hubert. (You know what? You can google them just as easy as I can.) Mr. Rick and the Biscuits, the Perth County Conspirators, Taxi Chain, Jon Brooks, Michelle Rumball, October Browne, Spraoi, Enoch Kent, Jonathan Lynn, Chris Dignan, Up the Line Blues Duo, James Thompson, Bill Heffernan, Jowi Taylor and Canada's Six String Nation Guitar, String Theory, Roman Tome, Glen Hornblast, the Cowie-McManus Band and the Michael O'Grady Band.

Other event highlights include lucky draw prizes, silent auction, and of course, fabulous Mexican food!
All proceeds go to support preschool lunch programs in Nicaragua administered through the Casa Canadiense.
