Meet local thespian and wiseacre Sanjay Talwar who will be featured in the upcoming repeat production of last year’s Fringe success, THE GLADSTONE VARIATIONS, which runs from July 16 until August 3 at the Gladstone.
Where did you grow up? Why?
In my parents house in Halifax, NS, because I was very, very lucky.
How long have you been in Toronto?
Decades...once the west taught me that I'll always be an eastern Canadian

…a study in opposites.
What do you do for a living?
Work very hard at playing.
What keeps you busy?
The theatre community, the film community, and all of my neuroses.
What was your favourite summer job?
Cleaning an icebreaker in drydock...they said we wouldn't last the day, and we made it through three whole weeks.
Dream job? Why?
Working for a think tank...just to see how they manage to not take their work home with them.
What’s your passion?
Storytelling.

What do you give back to the No Fly Zone?
Pretty much my whole day, every day.
What can we do to make Toronto a "world class" city?
Stop trying so hard, and just realize that we are, as much as we can be, the rest comes with history.
Are you an artist?
According to my close connection with the poverty line...yes.
How does art influence your life?
It transforms everything from black and white into colour.
Hands or feet?
Hands...what kind of coin are we flipping here?
Worst public moment?
Accidental nude scene in one of my first plays, once it ended I thought I was going to die of embarrassment.
Why do you live here?
It's the best place in the world...and I will never stop complaining about it...ever.

Up until recently I would've taken Ringo, but after the events of late, I think Paul needs to let off steam more. Regardless, George takes them both out.
Favourite public space?
In the summer, the island. In the winter, any place with central heating.
Who are your favourite Toronto artists?
There are literally thousands of brilliant artists in Toronto doing their thing right now, as I write this, as you read this...go see as many as you can...I have too many favorites.
