Are we losing sight of our Genetic Past? That is the question 5 Textile Artists are trying to answer in an exhibition that started with a circa 1920's photograph of four friends with no identity. This exhibition gives back some identity to these four women in written word and illustration. They're names are Beth, Marjorie, Eleanor and Blanche. They have been best friends since their first meeting in a one-room schoolhouse. They shared everything or so they thought. But each saved one or two secrets for themselves. Secrets to Dream On! May 2 to July 2 at the Rustic Cosmos Café and Gallery, 1278 Queen Street West.

The full title of the painting which inspired our magazine title is Homo sapiens, Lepidium sativum and Calliphora vomitoria - a wise man, some cress, and a bluebottle. It is the work of British artist Stuart Pearson Wright.

"At the end of the first sitting, the Prince inspected the work and exclaimed 'godzooks' or 'godzounds', the artist was too alarmed to remember which."
